Meet
James A. Koch, SRA, MBA
Over Four Decades of Residential Valuation Experience.
Since beginning his appraisal career in 1986, James Koch has built a reputation as one of the Bay Area's most experienced residential valuation professionals. His career has spanned multiple market cycles, evolving neighborhoods, and thousands of residential valuation assignments throughout San Francisco, San Mateo County, and Silicon Valley.

As an SRA-designated appraiser, James is committed to the highest standards of professional practice, continuing education, and ethical conduct within the appraisal profession.
History
James began his appraisal career in 1986 as a Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser. Early in his career, he developed a strong foundation in residential valuation while working across a broad range of Bay Area property types and market conditions.

He later expanded his expertise through wholesale review appraisal work for institutional lending clients, gaining additional experience evaluating appraisal quality, valuation methodology, and market analysis.
​
In 1998, James founded Koch Appraisal & Consulting, establishing an independent practice focused on delivering credible residential valuations supported by thorough research, professional judgment, and local market expertise.
For more than two decades, Koch Appraisal has continued to serve property owners, trustees, families, attorneys, accountants, and financial professionals throughout the Bay Area
